messing around with linen and buttons and lace..wip

This is an old linen napkin that I dipped in coffee [ with vanilla ] . a work in progress .....
I don't know if I like the stitching or the aroma of vanilla coffee more ,
I used to do this years ago but it doesn't come easy to me .... and I really don't know how to embroider [ I fake it ] ... I drag out my mother's old embroidery instruction book , look at the diagram photos and wing it .
but
as I looked at Flickr photos one night > I found Pam Garrison . She inspired me to try again
Yes > if you enlarge this photo you will see two drops of blood . HA ..... but I keep stitching . I should be painting or drawing or CLEANING but I will keep stitching away .
I like the week after Christmas . It's a time to just relax and play a little .
HAPPY NEW YEAR ....
P.S. > the idea for adding vanilla to coffee wasn't my idea ..... I read it on someone's blog but now I forget who it was ! well if I remember I'll let you know

Just a quickie on the computer before I head over to the hosp. before the rain comes.

This is beautiful, Sandy. Will it be a wall hanging, or pillow, or perhaps part of an apron?

Have a wonderful 2010.

DNA art baby! I have a few DNA pieces around here as well. I decided to keep my Izannah prototype doll which has my DNA soaked into it.

I love that you branch out...I need to do some branching out again.

found the blood. Fresh. I think it is necessary to give at least one drop of blood sacrificed for every quilt project that we do.
lovely idea to use up bits and pieces of things!

I also love that week between Christmas and New Year's. If you go to some of the quilting websites, there are all kinds of remedies to rid fabric of blood drops. Sometimes it's easier to learn crewel, it uses the same stitches, but with yarn instead of floss. I love hand sewing of any kind. It's so soothing. I love stopping by and seeing what you have been up to through out the year. I'm wishing you the best in the weeks to come and Happy New Year.
