hearts and lace , pearls and ribbons CLICK to enlarge

Many years ago ... I made these hearts and this doll and painted roses in this wood bowl .
...bits of lace, embroidery , fabric pieces , crochet doilies , old buttons , pearls and ribbons .
The pink pin cushion was made by my grandmother . I would guess 1930's .
I'm feeling nostalgic and melancholy .... I think about painting but I'm drawn to lace and thread.
I want to make these things again .
Do you think it's good to take a break from your usual art ? to go to another medium .... I am thinking so much we do is for our spiritual peace ...
It's hard to understand why we make the art we make .

I have a hard time sometimes focusing on the projects I have started because I see a new technique, a new craft, a new element that I just have to work on....it is a good thing, but you have to have discipline too to focus on finishing your UFO's

Go ahead and make them!! You do need a break sometimes from what you"usually" do and then you return to it full of new ideas and inspiration from what you´ve been working with in the meantime. And you use many of the elements in these boxes in your work already, so I would say you moe add a new dimension to your work.

And... these boxes are divine!!! So boudoir (you probably guessed I would love them, lol) I would surely want to buy one! They would even look very nice in an oval, round or even square shape I think.

We had a snowstorm last night and haven´t been able to get to the field where our horses are yet, but luckily our neighbour has a quad bike and offered to bring them hay and straw. But we hope they clear that road soon!!!

Apart from taht it´s winter wonderland, I´ll post some pictures later!

Take care - and follow your bliss as Mary said!

All these things are lovely. Anything that gets the creativity going is what I do. I'm currently beating myself up over a recent weight gain, so I treated myself to a punch embroidery kit, works up quickly and makes me feel somewhat artsy. I just can't get motivated. As soon as the holidays pass, we can get back in the right gear and motor forward. Take care. Susan

Sandy... yes everyone needs a vacation... you creating these wonderful lace hearts will give you that vacation. Then when you are ready to pick up that paint brush again you will be flooded with ideas. It's good to expand and to create other things... this is the spice of life...don't you think.? :)

Hugs,

Tee

Do whatever you feel like doing at the time Sandy. Creativity takes so many different forms. These are gorgeous, old fashioned but beautiful items you have photographed here. I love them all.

I absolutely believe that we all need a break from the norm. Even if we love what we do, sometimes we crave variety. Also, when we take a little leave from our normal art, it gives us a chance to clear our minds and find new thoughts and feeling to pull from. You'll only be truly happy in your art if you follow your heart.

I think it is good to take a break from your usual art...I think one always informs the other, and we need to allow what we usually do to be broadened/expanded by these forays and side roads.

Dixie, who likes just about anything I've seen of yours....except maybe your ventriloquist doll ;-)
